Snow storm locks down New York City and flights cancelled |
A massive, wind-whipped blizzard slammed into the U.S northeast last night into this morning, creating havoc for more than 60 million people. It forced New York City to shut down on a scale not seen since Superstorm Sandy devastated the region in 2012.
Boston, New York and Philadelphia began shutting down yesterday evening as the flurries began, with the worst ahead. Non-emergency vehicles have been banned on New York City's six thousand miles of roads. Mayor Bill de Blasio urged persons to consider the situation as an emergency. At least 28 million people will face blizzard conditions and an estimated 50 million could see more than a foot of snow in the storm.
And Caribbean Airlines says its New York flights remain cancelled, due to the snow storm. General Manager of the airline's Jamaican operations, Clive Forbes, says affected passengers should continue tracking flight information via the internet.
